4 Fall 2020 Trends To Update Your Wardrobe (Shopping Suggestions)

I recently shared what I think are the top trends for fall 2020 over on YouTube and thought it might be helpful to round-up some of the most wearable in an easy to shop format in case you’d like to add any of these to your wardrobe.

Below, I’ve gathered some of the top pieces that represent the trends, and what I think are some of the easiest ways to update your look with just one piece. With that in mind, I’ve focused on chunky soles, flat boots, loose jeans and rich chocolate brown.

I’ve also tried to only include brands that I’ve either personally tried or appear to have quality construction - with a healthy dose of second hand options of course. Happy (almost) fall!

Chunky Soles

One of the trends I’m the most excited about is chunky soles. I love how they change up a silhouette and the fact that they’re incredibly practical. I’m especially partial to the chunkier soled chelsea boots and brogues and I’m strongly considering these for my own fall wardrobe.

Flat Boots

Another shoe trend I love is flat boots. I love the gorgeous flat riding boots we’re seeing everywhere and the fact that you can easily find them second hand and vintage. I also really love the classic chelsea boots that never go out of style and work with everything from skirts to dresses and pants.

Loose Jeans

In addition to shoes, one of the fastest ways to update your look is to update your jeans silhouette and the loose, 90’s inspired styles that are popular for fall are a great way to do that. Of course, also be sure to check your local thrift and vintage stores once it’s safe to shop where you are because vintage jeans are the best but in my experience must be tried on in-person. I bought this pair to participate in the trend and they’re perfect! High-waisted, straight leg but not too straight and a longer inseam of 28” works for me with both flats and boots. They’re well-made, look way more expensive than they are and come in the perfect light to mid wash that won’t feel dated when they come back in style a few years down the line.

Rich Chocolate Brown

One of the top color trends for the year is brown and I love this rich chocolate color for fall. Plus, I think it’s a color you can wear forever but isn’t always the easiest to find.
