REVIEW & COMPARISON: EVERLANE BLOCK HEEL SANDAL VS DOUBLE-STRAP BLOCK HEEL SANDAL

Earlier this season, I was every generously gifted the new Everlane Block Heel Sandals. I ordered them in my usual size of 6.5 and loved them from the moment I took them out of the box - they’re so comfortable! The 2inch heel isn’t too high and feels secure while the wide strap across the foot keeps me firmly planted in my sandals so I never feel like I may tip over. This design also ensures that I can wear them for long periods of time without any discomfort which is essential for me.

Plus, the neutral “Sand Lizard” color that I chose compliments my wardrobe perfectly. You can see them in action in my summer capsule wardrobe video. You can also see how I’ve been styling them here and you can see my entire summer shoe collection here.

As the endless summer has drawn on and on here, and I’ve been wearing and loving my 5 pairs of spring/summer shoes, I’ve found myself wishing I also had a pair of black sandals to round everything out. Both of my sandals are lighter in color and while that’s perfect for most of my wardrobe, I still own and wear a lot of black that feels a little better with a pair of matching sandals so Everlane vary graciously gifted me their Double-Strap Block Heel Sandals as well.

While both pairs look pretty similar and both have the same sturdy 2 inch heel, there are a few main differences that I want to go over. First and most importantly to me, is the size difference. With the Everlane Block Heel Sandals I ordered my usual size 6.5 and they’re perfect. Not too tight, not too loose.

When it came time to choose a size for the Double-Strap Block Heel Sandals I chose a 6.5 again but they were MUCH too tight and a little too short. I tried wearing them around the house to see if they would loosen up but they were incredibly uncomfortable on my pretty normal feet (they aren’t too wide but they also aren’t narrow and I typically wear a medium width in all my shoes. Ultimately, I traded them for a 7 and they’re perfect.

The Double-Strap Block Heel Sandals also took a little breaking in that I did by wearing them around the house for 2 days before wearing them out, but now they’re so comfortable and I have no doubt will be the perfect sandal for transitioning into fall. Below, I’ve outlined a quick snapshot of the differences between each sandal so you can decide which if any would be best for you, and of course don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

One Small Change, Big Impact Pt 1: The Little White Top

One of my biggest wardrobe revelations has been that I need at least one stand out piece in every outfit, to make my other classics feel right. For me, that means something that’s on-trend, versatile and not too expensive. Similar to the 5 Piece French Wardrobe approach, this has translated into adding at least one trendier or statement piece to my closet each season. These pieces range from clothes to accessories and in the short while that I’ve adopted this approach, my personal style has felt better than ever.

So, beginning with today’s post, I’ll be sharing these small changes that make a big impact. First up is the addition of a cute, on-trend white top to my wardrobe. This beauty features ruffled sleeves and a fitted bodice and looks amazing with skirts, shorts and jeans - everything I love to wear. Plus, it immediately updated the other classics I already have in my wardrobe - something that’s becoming more and more important to me in recent months.

For example, for this look I’m wearing a pair of basic high rise, straight leg jeans that I purchased a few months ago, my go-to pair of beige espadrilles that I’ve had for a few years, straw bag that I bought last year, and vintage scarf - all classic pieces. In years past, I would have paired this look with a similarly classic t-shirt or tank, but since making the conscious choice to add this trendier top to my wardrobe, everything else just feels right.

The subtle change in silhouette from what I typically wear, immediately updated the other classics I’m so careful about adding to my closet and allows everything to work more seamlessly together. Plus, this aha moment has helped me focus in on what those pieces will look like for fall, and I’m getting so excited to start planning for them soon!
