Fall Wardrobe Prep: The Inspiration

It may still be summer, but I’ve already started planning and evaluating my wardrobe for fall - it’s just so fun! So starting with today’s post, I’ll be sharing some fall prep content with you in the coming weeks that will outline my favorite inspiration from the runways, the trends I’m loving and looking forward to and my search for the few new items I’d like to add to my wardrobe. This process is usually a lengthy one and something that I start a few months before fall so that I can space out my purchases and spend my time searching for the perfect piece. I hope you’ll find it helpful and this early fall content will help distract you from the late summer heat haha. At least that’s my hope!

When it comes to inspiration for this season I’m LOVING the minimal, almost 90’s looks that are everywhere and it’s something I can easily recreate with most of my wardrobe - it’s an aesthetic I’m naturally drawn to so most of my core wardrobe pieces are already in these clean, sleek lines. Another major inspiration point for me is the luxe monochrome executed in tailored separates. In short, I LOVE THIS and can easily recreate a lot of these looks with pieces I already own just by tweaking the styling a little bit. That coupled with a few silhouette updates (maybe wide leg pants) looks like all I’ll need to bring my current closet into the cooler months and I couldn’t be happier about it.

Slow & Sustainable Fashion Find No. 2: Doen

doen-dress-ruffs signet ring - pamela card necklace.jpg

I first discovered DÔEN a few years ago when they launched. Seemingly over night their gorgeous pieces were popping up everywhere and I quickly added them to my list of brands to keep in mind for future purchases. Every season I would check the new releases and see if anything fit the bill. Fast forward a few years and I finally found a DÔEN piece that spoke to my personal style so for my birthday I bought this top. From the second I took it out of the box I was in love. Not only is it gorgeous, but it’s flattering, beautifully made and sooooo soft. It looks equally great with jeans and skirts and needless to say, that purchase kicked off a rapidly growing love affair with the brand so when it came time to add a new sundress to my wardrobe, I picked up this one.

Crafted from 100% cotton-voile, this dress is a maxi style on my 5’4 frame and has quickly become one of my favorite dresses. With an empire waist, delicate cap sleeves and flowing skirt, this dress is a dream and something that I know I’ll wear and love for years to come. Plus, it has the prettiest pink running throughout which is one of my wardrobe accent colors and slips easily over my head for a polished outfit in seconds. So far, I’ve only worn it with my flat sandals but I know it will also look amazing with my espadrilles and heeled sandals. Plus, I think I’ll even be able to pair it with ankle boots and layer it with a blazer or jacket in the fall.

Wish List Outfit Planning No. 5

rolex date just - dark wash jeans- manolo blahnik-.jpg

Today I’m excited to share some more wish list outfit planning. I love doing these to keep me on track and especially now that we’re halfway through 2019, I want to make sure I don’t get distracted by all the pretty things popping up in the sales.

Also, I’ve made a few tweaks to my wish list and narrowed in on the cuts, colors etc that I’d like to add to my closet. I’ve also broken my wish list into tiers. Tier 1 is things I hope and plan to add to my closet in the next few months. Tier 2 is anything I’m considering for the rest of the year and tier 3 is everything for late this year into next year and beyond. Doing this is really helpful to keep me focused and make sure my shopping budgets stay on track - especially helpful when saving for big purchases like a vintage metal watch that I’ve been saving for for a few years now. As always, I’ve linked everything below so let’s get into it.
