Monday Must-Have: The Waterproof Jacket

It may only be the first week of April but the time-tested adage "April showers, bring may flowers" is holding true. As I type this, not only has it been raining consistently since last night but it is forecasted to continue doing so until tomorrow. To survive this never ending rainfall, I have been reaching for my favorite waterproof jacket nonstop making it the perfect subject of this week's "Monday Must-Have."

The Barbour Beadnell(now 25% off here with the code FRIENDS!!) is based on the iconic men’s jacket the Bedale and popular with women of all ages. Cut in a slimmer style than the original, the Beadnell features waxed cotton that is not only a classic but also waterproof making it the perfect topper for soggy days. This jacket goes with everything and can be worn over dresses, skirts, jeans, shorts and more year-round. Excluding a few very cold days, I can even wear this jacket all winter long when layered strategically over sweaters and shirts. I have mine in the classic Beadnell and in the color "olive" pictured above and couldn't be happier with it. The muted hue and neutral tartan lining go with every color in my wardrobe and the quality is superior. I have had mine for a little over three years now and it still looks brand new. Below, I have included some of my favorite Barbour styling pics that I hope will help you decide if this classic is for you.

Until next time!

Word On The Street: April 1, 2016

Happy Friday and official start to April! As my birthday month, I've always had a soft spot for April and I am so looking forward to the full-blown spring weather it will bring. This weekend, Jason and I will likely visit The Met and enjoy the early spring weather with strolls through The Village. Until then, word on the street is....

1. As you know, I love barrettes so I was excited to see this round-up on WhoWhatWear this week.

2. Currently The Met has a wonderful exhibit on French artist Vigee Le Brun that I can't wait to check out.

3. Speaking of The Met, this old but lovely InToTheGloss video beautifully captures how to achieve museum level glamour effortlessly.

4. In case you missed it, I styled my new favorite pale pink top here and showed you how to pair your monochromatic separates so they look like they were made for each other here

Until next time, have a great weekend!

Spring Blooms

This past Easter the weather in the city was perfect. To hold onto that early spring feeling, I pulled out my favorite shirt, skirt combo and topped it with my go-to J. Crew jean jacket.

One of my favorite ways to stretch a minimal wardrobe is to pair monochromatic separates in ways that look like complete outfits. Case in point is my Everlane silk shirt and Banana Republic silk skirt that when worn with a belt look like a dress. To tie the whole look together I paired the look with my Everlane flats and carried my clutch for a more dressed up look.

If you don't already mix and match your monochrome separates, I think spring is the perfect time to try it out. I think you'll be thrilled with how far you can stretch your high quality pieces that way.

Shirt: Everlane / Skirt: Banana Republic / Belt: Vintage Dooney (a similar one available in the shop) / Jacket: J. Crew / Clutch: Louis Vuitton / Pin: Vintage / Flats: Everlane

Until next time!

Saturday In The Park

Pale pink is one of my favorite colors so I was thrilled when Pantone announced it as color of the year. This announcement has resulted in countless options popping up in retailers this spring. Needless to say, when I spotted this lovely pale pink top recently in H&M I couldn't resist picking it up. I love how this blouse is soft and feminine while still being classic and I know I'll  get a ton of wear out of it.

To keep the top from feeling stuffy I paired it with my go-to skinny jeans from LOFT and block heel tassel loafers from Clarks. For accessories I wore my vintage Gucci purse with a vintage Ralph Lauren floral silk scarf tied on the handle.

Until next time!
