How To Style Black Pants 4 Ways: Project 1-4-4

Today's post is all about the little black pants. Despite omitting this closet staple from my fall capsule (I was just so excited about moving to a warmer climate that I opted for navy pants instead!) they have recently worked their way back into my closet and I couldn't be happier about it. To showcase this wardrobe workhorse, I've made them the subject of this week's installment of Project 1-4-4.

For those of you who are new, "Project 1-4-4" stands for 1 item, 4 seasons, 4 ways and showcases how one closet staple can be worn year round. For today's post I'm styling an old pair of black pants from H&M (similar here, here, here, here and here) that I've had for close to 4 years now and couldn't be happier with. Despite not having belt loops, these pants are surprisingly polished while also being super comfortable - making them the perfect foundation for a multitude of looks.

WINTER

When the temps drop in the winter I love to wear black pants. To keep them from feeling too stuffy and dreary, I like to pair them with luxe separates like my long camel coat, sleek ankle boots and gold link necklace.

SPRING

When winter gives way to spring I love to swap my boots for ballet flats and my sweater for a cute top. I love to then finish off this warm weather look with classic sunglasses and a carefree clutch.

SUMMER

As the temperatures rise I love to wear lightweight separates that look put-together but don't feel heavy. To do this I like to pair my black pants with sandals and a simple white tee. A straw hat and sunglasses complete the look.

White Tee: Hanes

Sandals: Topshop (old), similar here and here under $90

FALL

During the fall I love to pair my black pants with cozy sweaters and large shawls. With the onset of cooler weather I also love to pull my booties back on and top it all off with a wool fedora to protect my head from the rain and cold.

Scarf: Forever 21 (old), similar here

Cashmere Sweater: Everlane

Fedora: Old from a vendor in NY, similar here, and here

In addition to the details above, I also put together a quick video of these four looks that you can watch below or over on my YouTube channel. Also, I want to take a moment to extend my sincerest gratitude to everyone that has subscribed! I can't believe that I've already reached 2,000 subscribers and I'm working on a little giveaway as a thank you so stay tuned for that coming soon.

Before I go though, I'd love to know how you style your own black pants a multitude of ways. Let me know in the comments down below and I'd love to know what closet staple you want me to showcase in the next Project 1-4-4 video.

Until next time,

Audrey
