WISH LIST UPDATES & MORE OUTFIT PLANNING

It’s been a while since I last shared a wish list update and some outfit planning. I love to do these every so often to keep me on track and also ensure that my priorities within my wish list maintain consistent.

As seasonal sales happen, my search for the perfect item gets more complicated or any other number of things, I will move items between tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 of my wish list.

Each tier represents a level of priority from greatest or soonest, to least important or farthest in the future and spans from the next few months to an undetermined amount of time in the coming year or years.

Here you can see some of the things that are at the top half of my list at the moment and below, I’ve shared more about my reasoning behind each one. Over on the main page of my blog, I share just a snapshot of each item but here I’ll go into more detail in case my reasoning can help you as well.

To close it all out, I’ve put together some outfit ideas using these pieces and the things I already have in my closet. This is an essential part of creating a wish list that helps ensure you buy things that will fit with your color palette and the other things you already own.

MY COLOR PALETTE

Let’s start off with my wardrobe color palette and how I use these colors throughout the year and also how the items on my wish list fit in with my palette. My color palette consists of base neutrals and accent colors and as you can see below, it’s grown significantly since I first started this personal style journey.

color palette.png

When I did my first major wardrobe overhaul, I narrowed in a color palette of black, white, grey, cream and blue. I kept things as simple as possible while I navigated color and grew more confident about the colors I love to wear. Now, my palette consists of black, white, beige, cream, light blue and navy as my base colors and green, camel, brown, pink, burgundy, a little maroon and red.

This palette suits my lifestyle perfectly and I love the versatility that I get by just changing up a few of my color pairings throughout the year. If you want to see some of my personal favorite combinations, you can watch my YouTube video here and below. Also, as you’ll see in a bit, each of the items on my wish list fit into this palette perfectly ensuring they’ll play nicely wither everything else I already own.

WISH LIST BREAKDOWN

Now let’s break down each of the items above along with my reasoning behind each one. My hope is that seeing my thought process outlined here will help you when putting together your own wish list.

High Neck Cropped Sweater

Let’s start things off with the high neck, cropped sweater at the top of this collage. You know how much I love sweaters and I have quite a few that I’ve collected and love to wear any chance I get.

Recently though, I’ve noticed a hole in my sweater collection for something cropped that I’d love to fill. As a petite person with a small frame, most sweaters come very long on me in both the torso and the sleeves and I’ve just accepted that as part of my reality but last year I bought a sweater from COS that’s slightly cropped and it was a revelation!

Ever since then, I’ve been on the hunt for a few cropped styles and something like this one from Vince with a high but not turtleneck collar is a must for me. I love how it looks slightly more special than a basic crewneck and the gorgeous burgundy color is perfect for fall and winter. How gorgeous would this look with black pants, jeans or a cute skirt and tights?

I also really love this gorgeous option from Common Thread that is a great new company I recently discovered. I love that it has a higher neck and slouchier fit but is still cropped.

Crew Neck Cropped Sweater

Keeping in line with my new dedication to cropped sweaters, I would also love to add a basic cashmere crew neck sweater with a cropped cut to my wardrobe. I have my sights set on this one from Italic which is a great new direct to consumer brand offering gorgeous pieces.

I love it because it has the relaxed fit that I love in all of my sweaters coupled with the crop silhouette. The icing on the cake is the gorgeous ivory color that fits perfectly into my color palette.

Classic Diamond Studs

Next we have classic diamond studs that are a recent addition after a different pair was ultimately moved off of my list.

The pair I originally had on here was a rough almost uncut diamond style that I LOVE but after a lot of outfit research and really reflecting on my personal style, I decided that I would be better suited to a classic pair of round diamond studs.

I don’t have my sights set on any pair in particular at the moment, but this gorgeous option from Vrai is a top of my contender.

Gold Choker Necklace

Speaking of jewelry, another item on my list is a simple gold choker necklace. I’ve been seeing these everywhere lately and as a lover of higher necklaces, I think it will layer beautifully with my other pieces and necklines. I’m currently looking at vintage options but also have my eyes out for one from a few of the jewelry brands I love.

Wide Leg Black Pants

You know how much I love black pants and I have a few styles in my wardrobe that I rotate through depending on what tops and shoes I want to wear. The one style that I haven’t worn since I was in high school though is longer, wide leg black pants and I think it may be time to change that. This is another item that I don’t have an exact item spotted for yet but I’m excited for how it can change up what I already have.

Petite Or Slightly Cropped Black Leather Jacket

Oh the perfect black leather jacket. I’ve wanted one for as long as I can remember but have never had any luck finding one that fit properly. Every one is too long in the torso and too long in the sleeves so they end up drowning me.

The only leather jackets I’ve had any luck with are my beloved burgundy brownish one that I bought at Zara in Paris about 7 years ago and still wear and love endlessly and my vintage, black leather blazer that I bought last year and fits me perfectly. I even bought another vintage one last year that I haven’t worn nearly enough because it was an impulse buy because I couldn’t believe it actually fit but it’s ultimately not the right style. It’s a semi moto style but without a ton of hardware and it’s a little too wide in the arms and through the torso - even though it fits perfectly in the length and shoulders.

Luckily, slightly shrunken styles are now popping up everywhere and this may finally be my moment for me to put my leather jacket fund to use. The key, is a jacket that doesn’t have too much hardware, is built to get better with age and not too slouchy or slim so that it feels dated. Something like this gorgeous Acne leather jacket or this one by Deadwood featuring deadstock leather is ideal.

Chunky Comfortable Sandals

This next one is a bit of a wild card and something that I’m embracing as a way to expand my style. I had a pair of these in middle school and high school and loved them so much but as trends changed and my style evolved, I started to wear more tailored sandals and now I have 2 pairs of block heel sandals and one pair of flat sandals that I interchange all season long. What I don’t have, is a pair of flat sandals that are comfortable and easy to walk in - especially when it’s sweltering down here in the dead of summer. To remedy this, I’m excited to hop on board the chunky sandal trend and see how they can change up my go-to outfits. I currently have my sights set on these or these.

Classic Bolero Hat Crafted To Last

I love hats and another one of my wardrobe goals is to expand the styles I wear. At the moment, I have a few berets, a wool fedora and a straw fedora but I would love to add a bolero to the mix. I love how this style is similar to a fedora so it won’t feel too foreign but is also more fun and I think a great way to add some personality to my wardrobe. There are so many beautiful ones to choose from but at the top of my list is this one by Maison Michel, a gorgeous French hat company that makes the most stunning pieces. I also love it in burgundy. Another contender is this one by Janessa Leone which is the maker of my straw fedora that I love.

Straight Leg (Slimmer Fit), Slightly Cropped Jeans

This next one is of less priority on my wish list and isn’t something I need right away. I’ve only recently become a big jean wearer and as a result I have a few styles I rotate between but I’ve noticed that I find myself wanting a style that’s straighter than my other styles and slimmer through the leg - not skinny but not perfectly straight either. I think this will give me more versatility and another option for the days I want to wear jeans, especially with my more oversized pieces.

Forever Watch With Quality Craftsmanship

Last but not least is something that’s been on my wish list for years and something that I’m taking my time with. A classic forever watch that’s been crafted to stand the test of time is not a purchase I take lightly and it’s certainly taken a lot of research to narrow down the specifications of what I want. In short, I want something with automatic movement that won’t lose value, something like a Rolex. But, I adore the style of a Cartier so I find myself going back and forth. At the moment, I’m 99% sure I want my first watch in this category to be a Rolex in stainless steel and I love the classic Date Just and I after doing months of research I want to buy new rather than vintage or pre-owned.

OUTFIT IDEAS

Now I want to share some outfit inspiration using these pieces and the things I already own. Each of these looks is something I already wear often and by adding just one or two new pieces they feel fresh and even more versatile than they already were.
