Time(less) Episode 2: The Curated Camel Coat (VIDEO)

Today’s video is the second installment of my Time(less) series where I highlight some of my favorite things in my wardrobe. The pieces that have been made with care to stand the test of time. For episode 2, I want to share more about my camel coat from The Curated.

THE WHO: The Curated

THE WHAT: A carefully sourced collection of timeless high quality staples that come collectively together under one roof. Scandinavian based we are focused on sustainable luxury and minimal elegance for women.

THE CRAFT: The Curated works together with vertical mills to create luxury staples that are affordable. Vertical mills are factories that produce both the raw material and finished product. This means that they reduce environmental wastage, overproduction while increasing efficiency in production and cost.

From their website: “It is common that factories are often left with raw materials at the end of the season which are then turned into their own stock to sell for extra revenue. We then sell these items as a curated collection under our own brand. All the staples that we make are the highest quality and chosen due to their durability and longevity.

We believe in real affordable luxury fashion for the hardworking modern woman. We also believe in supporting small factories that are challenged by the fast fashion, low cost, high wastage industry.

Thats why we structure our pricing to make up less than 50% of the product cost. You can read more about our pricing here.

THE WHY: I love camel coats and for me, they’re a wardrobe staple. Years ago I purchased my first one in a nice tailored style that has buttons and classic tailoring like crisp shoulders and finished sleeves. Since wearing that one non-stop every fall and winter since I got it, I wanted to add a looser, more relaxed but still polished option to my wardrobe. When The Curated came on my radar it checked all the boxes and I was instantly in love.

THE COAT I HAVE: The Classic Coat in Camel
- Organic Cashmere Wool Blend (30/70%)
- Created in Inner Mongolia China
- True to size
- Dry clean only
- Optional waist band (no sewn loops)

It comes in small, medium and large and I have it in small. As you can see, it fits me really well. It’s perfectly oversized but still structured on my 5’ 3/4” frame. If you’re shorter than me or having a very small frame, take extra care to look at the sizing chart and the model on their website before ordering.

THE EXTRA DETAILS: It’s cut so well. The sleeves are slightly cropped so they work perfectly for me and my petite frame. It also comes with waist tie that easily folds up and fits into the coat pocket or your purse when you’re not using it. The coat doesn’t come with belt loops though because Nicola (the founder) things it hangs better without them and I have to agree that it has the most elegant drape. I have heard though that newer versions now have inconspicuous belt loops.
