Wake Up At 5 Am Every Day | How Anyone Can Be A Morning Person (VIDEO)

I’m definitely a morning person and I love to get my day going earlier rather than later. I love the energy and excitement that comes with being up early and being able to greet the sun as it rises and in today’s video, I want to go over why you should be a morning person too, and how you can start waking up early even if you don’t want to. You can view the video below and read more about my tips here. Before we hop into it though, I want to thank Beauty By Design for sponsoring this video. Like always of course, all opinions are 100% my own and I’ll share more about my personal experience with them below.

WHY SHOULD YOU WAKE UP EARLY?

You may be asking yourself, why should I get up early and these reasons may differ for everyone, but some of the top reasons and most of my reasons are…

  • It gives me more time in the day to get things done which ultimately helps me be more productive and get more done without running out of time

  • Since I’m able to get my work done earlier in the day, I have more time for leisure and relaxation

  • I’m able to dedicate the time to my health and fitness that keeps me healthy. I don’t need to squeeze my work out in at the end of a long day, but instead I’m able to knock it out when my energy and motivation are high

  • This next one is especially true when I was working on my blog in addition to a full-time job and that is that the mornings were when I was able to work on my blog and then my YouTube channel in order to build it enough to be able to turn it from my side job into my full time job

    • For me this was the perfect time to do things like this because my creativity is the highest in the morning when I’m alert and uninterrupted which brings me to the next benefit

  • Nobody else is awake that early so I don’t have to worry about interruptions and instead, I can be 100% selfish and only focus on me and what I want to accomplish

HOW ANYONE CAN BECOME A MORNING PERSON

The key to becoming a morning person is to make your morning and your routines as pleasant and simple as possible. Here are a few of my top tips for doing this.

  • Identify WHY you want to get up earlier

    • This is an essential first step and it helps you get excited about the benefits you’ll gain from waking up earlier. If you’re like me, then your reason may be to work on your passion project. Something that you won’t have time to work on otherwise because of other commitments like work, school etc. For example, before I was able to make YouTube and my blog my full time job, I had to build it from the nothing while still working 9-5 (which was more like 7:30-7 M-F). So, in order to have time for what I wanted to do, I carved out the time before work. For you, the reason why may be to write a script or screenplay, maybe it’s to build a business or work on an advanced degree. Or, maybe your life is insanely busy and you would just love some time to be alone and read. Or maybe you want to get into the best shape of your life and the only time you can find to work out is in the morning. Whatever your reason is, you need to have a clear WHY to motivate you. This will help you get excited about building this new habit and keep you from hitting that snooze button.

  • Find your motivator

    • Along those same lines, you want to identify something you can look forward to in the morning. That may be a YouTube video from your favorite creator, or a few pages or chapter in a new book you’re reading. Anything that can get you excited to wake up in the morning will help make the experience much for enjoyable. So, instead of associating your morning with feeling frazzled, you’ll associated it with feeling inspired, relaxed and happy.

  • Establish a night time routine

    • Next, you want to establish a night routine that you love and helps signal to your body that it’s time for sleep. For me, this includes lighting a candle, taking a shower, doing my evening skincare routine and dimming the lights to watch Netflix or read. As soon as I’ve done all of these, my body and mind are ready for bed and I’m able to fall asleep a lot easier.

      • Another important part of this is to stop all caffeine by early afternoon so that I’m able to wind down

      • Also, if you currently stay up late and wake up late, I recommend forcing yourself to get up painfully early in order to jolt yourself into a new routine. So, instead of staying up late and waking up late, I recommend going to bed whenever you normally would but then waking up at 5 the next day. If you do this, and then don’t have any caffeine after say noon, I promise that you’ll be so tired by about 9pm that night that you’ll fall fast asleep and be able to wake up a lot easier at 5am the next day. Of course, you’ll need to continue this for the next few days in order to make sure it’s engrained and before you know it, you’ll be waking up early without any effort and sometimes even before your alarm. This happens to me all the time now and it’s one of the best feelings in the world.

      • Now, if that seems too hardcore, then you can also try and move up your wake up time gradually by about 10-15 minutes every day or every few days. That way you can slowly transition your body to this new routine without making it so painful that you quit the first day.

  • Put your alarm/cell phone on the other side of the room

    • By doing this, you have to physically get up to turn it off. This is especially useful if you have a bad habit of hitting the snooze button, or worse, hit the snooze button and don’t even remember doing it.

HOW TO MAKE IT STICK

A few tips for sticking to your new wake up time without losing your sanity.

  • Establish quick, easy and effective self care routines - this includes skincare, makeup and haircare.

    • Skincare: Finding a skincare routine that works for your and your skin is often easier said than done and there’s so much conflicting information out there. Before I worked on my YouTube channel and blog, I was a beauty publicist in NY and had the luxury of working with amazing skincare brands and dermatologists but I was STILL confused about what I should be using on my skin but Beauty By Design takes the guess work out of it for you. Not only do they put you in touch an Esthetician available anytime via TEXT, but they also help you figure out a routine that works for you to get the results you want. Establishing a routine like this is essential to ensuring you have something you can do easily every morning - even when you’re half asleep. • Makeup: Likewise, come up with a quick and easy makeup routine - I like a capsule makeup collection for this and will be sharing my winter capsule makeup routine soon.

  • Also, a hair routine or style that works for you and your lifestyle and is something that you can knock out in no time flat

  • Consider showering at night - especially if you’re going to wash your hair. Doing so gives you plenty of time to style your hair the way you like without having a tight deadline.

  • I have a video coming up with a few of my favorite quick hairstyles so be on the lookout for that

Have at least one “uniform” that you can wear for your everyday life that makes you feel amazing.

  • I’ve discussed the idea of uniform dressing many times on this channel and it’s something that I love for looking and feeling great with very little effort

And there you have it! I’d love to know in the comments down below if you have any tips for waking up early that help you and like always thanks so much for watching and I’ll see you in my next one.
