There’s no denying that a timeless blazer in a solid color like black or navy is a wardrobe staple. This timeless topper is perfect for work to weekend and when chosen in a lightweight, breathable wool, can be worn all year. Since the holidays are here and I think, nothing looks more classic than a blazer over a cami or classic dress, I want to dedicate today’s post to this wardrobe workhorse.

A simple silhouette, delicate buttons (I prefer 1 or 2 button closure) and tailoring (only single-breasted for me) to make it flattering are a must for a blazer that can be worn for years to come and with the rest of your wardrobe.

These features coupled with a luxurious light wool material or wool blend and lining make for the perfect investment piece. Unsurprisingly, you can find a blazer that hits these points at a variety of price points from reasonable to outrageous and everything in between, so I’ve rounded up a nice selection at a few different price points to help make your search a little easier.

Also, don’t hesitate to check eBay, ETSY and vintage and second-hand stores for beautifully made jackets that won’t break the bank. Thrifting is one of my personal favorite ways to add gorgeous pieces to my wardrobe when I want high quality without the price tag. At the bottom of this post I’ve also rounded up a few of my favorite black blazer inspiration pictures to help inspire you. You can see even more outfits here.
