Monochromatic dressing is one of the easiest ways to make simple pieces look luxe. While this no-fail combination has been said to elongate the body, make it look slimmer and make anything look chicer, it can also feel boring if you aren't careful. With this cautionary tale in hand, I like to break up monochrome outfits with fun accessories that keep the look from putting me to sleep. Case in point is this light and airy look I wore during my time in Charleston.
When I packed for this trip, I brought along my never fail monochromatic basics that I can mix and match for endless possibilities. To save on suitcase space and help extend the longevity of these pieces, I also packed my favorite accessories including statement necklaces, belts and scarves. For this look, I applied this no-fail formula for dressing and paired my favorite cotton long sleeve t with matching midi skirt. To break up the top and bottom and make it look more like a dress, I cinched the waist with one of my favorite brown belts. To add interest to the plain t, I threw on my favorite statement necklace that features the same shade of navy as the top and skirt. To finish it all off, I wore my super comfortable ballet flats.
