On My Radar No 27

Happy Friday! I hope you've had a nice week and are gearing up for a lovely weekend. I am looking forward to spending the entire weekend outside soaking up the gorgeous weather. I've said it before but I'll say it again, the weather this time of the year makes the insane heat and humidity of summer 100% worth it. Until then, here are a few of the things on my radar this week.

HOW TO HELP THE FLORIDA VICTIMS | Following the tragic shooting in Florida this week, it's hard to know what to do or how to help. This list offers some great ways that we can all help

LONDON HOME RENOVATION | I have followed Jo Rodgers on Instagram for a long time and am completely in love with her photography and story-telling. As a contributor for Vogue, Jo has been sharing the renovation of her London home and earlier this week part 2 went live.

IS FASHION GETTING COMFORTABLE WITH BEING COMFORTABLE | As you know, I refuse to sacrifice comfort for style and this post from Man Repeller explores if the fashion industry is finally be on board.

IRISH MOVIES TO WATCH ON ST. PATTY'S DAY | As a proud Irish girl I love St. Patty's day and these St. Patrick's Day movies are just the thing to get in the spirit.

FERRAGAMO MATRIARCH INTERVIEW | I'm a huge fan of Ferragamo and own two pairs of their lovely shoes that are not only comfortable but also beautifully made so I loved reading this interview with Giovanna Ferragamo about her role in the company and the importance of the women in her family.

1 Month No Heat | UPDATE & NEW ROUTINE

1 Month No Heat | UPDATE & NEW ROUTINE

In this post, I shared my plans to go heat free for 1 month in an effort to get really comfortable with my natural hair texture. Though there is certainly nothing wrong with heat styling or altering your natural hair texture, I really wanted to embrace mine as a way of getting more comfortable with myself. For many reasons ranging from social to personal, I have been straightening and smoothing my hair for many years and always worked to combat my natural texture.

My Favorite Love Quotes + A Love Letter To You, For Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! Whether you're in a romantic relationship or not, I hope your day is filled with love and happiness - today and every day. I think that too frequently we get caught up in the romantic element of Valentine's Day that we forget the endless array of shapes and forms that love takes in our lives. From our parents and guardians, friends old and new, our children, nieces and nephews, pets and so much more, love can be found all around us and if we're lucky enough, we will continue to give and receive love in many forms throughout our lives and take the time to appreciate it when we're near it. So, in celebration of caring for another, and the love that that takes, I've rounded up three of my favorite quotes on the subject that always leave me feeling warm and fuzzy.

Also, I want to take the opportunity today to tell you how much I love each and every one of you and how grateful I am to have you here. I am completely head over heels for our little community and the love and support that you show me everyday is more than I could have ever hoped for. Each and every one of you is a breath of fresh air in my life and I feel inspired by you every day.

Spring Wish List & Capsule Inspiration

Maybe it's because it's my favorite season or because I'm loving the trends, but I couldn't be more excited for spring! My love for spring (it's hands down my favorite season!) coupled with our suddenly warmer weather here in Charleston have me planning my spring capsule a little earlier than usual. So, with fresh blooms and blue skies on the horizon, I've rounded up a few of the things I have on my radar to beef up my spring closet along with some of the images that are keeping me inspired and focused.

RELAXED WHITE OXFORD

The first piece I would like to add to my closet for spring is a relaxed white oxford. If you've been here before then you know how much I love my Brooks Brothers non-iron button down for it's structured, figure flattering look and crisp fabric.

Lately though, I've been craving a more relaxed fit and this spring I would love to add a looser option to my closet for the days I want to wear a button down but not commit a full tailored look.

To achieve this, I have my eye on this Grana number, this option from Everlane, this classic piece from Almina Concept and a few second-hand ones that I'm following on eBay and etsy.

To keep everything feeling fresh and modern, I plan to wear this closet staple with the sleeves rolled, the top 1-2 buttons unbuttoned and either untucked, half tucked or full tucked into casual jeans, denim skirts, linen shorts or their more  structured counterpart in black.

SIMPLE WHITE TEE & JEANS (DISTRESSING WELCOME)

Next up, I want to make an extra effort to wear the classic combination of a simple white tee and jeans more often. Beyond the basics that I already have in my closet, I am keeping my eyes open for a pair of white jeans with some subtle distressing.

I typically gravitate toward tailored pieces with little to no distressing, but lately I've been wanting some subtle wear and tear in a few of my classics to keep my looks from feeling too stuffy. I'm also loving pops of blue denim paired with white and colorful accessories.

POPS OF RED

Even though I tend to avoid bold colors in my wardrobe, this spring I'm loving the idea of red. Either in a simple tee or a stand-out accessory, I'm keep my eyes opened for the perfect piece to add to my closet.

SILK CAMIS & TAILORED BLAZERS

Since the 90's seem to be back with a vengeance, I've been loving the look of a simple silk cami or tank tucked into mid-rise jeans with a classic blazer thrown on top. To achieve this look, I already have the blazer and jeans and am only missing the silk camisole or tank which is so easy to find. Theres the ever classic Everlane option, and of course endless pre-owned and vintage offerings on the market.

TEXTURED, VINTAGE BELTS

You know how much I love belts, so you can imagine how happy I am that bold, textured, vintage or vintage inspired belts are so popular right now. I LOVE these statement pieces paired with an all white look, a simple tee and jeans or even a more tailored piece like a button down. While you can certainly find this belt style at many retailers this season, I plan on adding a true vintage number to my closet and I really love this onethis brown one, this brown onethis black one, this onethis navy option and this brown one

LINEN, LINEN & MORE LINEN

Another thing I'd love to wear more of this spring is linen. Since moving back down south, I've rediscovered my love of linen. Not only is this fabric airy and comfortably in scorching temps, but I love the relaxed effortlessness it lends to every look. This spring I would love to wear my new Grana linen tee (that I picked up in the sale earlier this year) with shorts and skirts alike for a breezy look that can take me from a walk along the battery to a lovely evening out with Jason.
