OOTW No. 3 | May 27-June 1

This week's OOTW features a few of the pieces that are always in heavy rotation in my spring/summer capsule wardrobes. Without fail, year after year a few great tees, a pair of denim cut-offs and airy blouses always make the cut and this year is no different. Below, I've broken down each look along with links when available.

Also, I mentioned last week that I wanted to change up the format of these posts a little with outfit stills and flatlays. Well, this week I was able to take some outfit stills but couldn't quite find the right back drop for my flatlays. I've got a few in the works for next week so hopefully I'll have that locked down soon but in the meantime, I had to forgo them for this post.

This first look features a new addition to my wardrobe that I can NOT get enough of!

The Grana short sleeve silk shirt was kindly sent to me by the lovely Grana team and I couldn't be happier with it.

In fact, I have a project 1-4-4 in the works for this piece coming up but for now, I've been wearing it with everything from shorts to jeans to skirts and I know it will be a staple in my closet year-round.

Look 2 features another Grana piece and my favorite denim jacket.

As someone who gets cold easily, jackets and sweaters are a must when braving the intense A.C. that's usually blasting everything this time of year. For this look, I draped the denim jacket over my shoulders a la fashion bloggers everywhere and topped it off with a great statement necklace and comfy sandals. The addition of a barrette kept my hair out of my face all day.

This third look is one of my favorite ways to dress up a pair of denim cut-offs.

For me, I find that the addition of a third piece like a blazer, hat, scarf or necklace is a must to keep me from feeling sloppy.

In this case I opted for my new floral blazer from ASOS and a pair of comfy pointy toe flats to polish it off.

Next up is another look featuring the Grana short sleeve silk shirt. This time I paired it with my pale green lace skirt from J.Crew that I've had for years. This combination is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

There's just something about the pale green and off white that make me feel perfectly at home. The older that I get, I find that I truly gravitate towards neutral colors more and more to feel polished and sophisticated with minimal effort.

If you've been following me for a while then you'll certainly remember these chino pants from LOFT that I picked up last year.

I love these pants because they're super comfortable but also flattering and easy to pair with a multitude of pieces. I wear them at least once a week during the warmer weather.

Here, I paired them with my newish lace shirt from Zara and black espadrilles.

This last look is a super casual combo that I love to wear when I want to feel like I'm wearing jeans and tee but not necessarily look like it.

This ruffle top from Zara is a personal fave because it's super lightweight and breathable and the details make it feel more special than a typical summer blouse.

Plus, the pale blue color is easily my favorite color.

Like always I filmed a little OOTW video to go along with this post. I've embedded it below for you and I hope you enjoy!

MAY FAVORITES

I probably sound like a broken record but I can't believe that another month has come and gone! This year is absolutely flying by, but so far it's been a good one so I don't mind. Not only do I feel incredibly lucky to be a first-time homeowner but I also get to do so in a city that I love. Beyond that, all of those I care for are in great health both mentally and physically and I try to never forget just how lucky I am for that. On a more personal level I am feeling more inspired than ever which in turn has helped me move closer to achieving some of my biggest 2017 goals. All of these things combined have been lighting a fire in my heart and setting me down a path towards self improvement that I hope will continue well past June.

All that aside though, in honor of May coming to a close, today's post is all about the things I've been loving this past month. Like always it includes a mix of everything so let's hop right in.

1 | LIVING PROOF ANTI-HUMIDITY SHIELD | I've mentioned this product more than once but just had to include it in this month's favorites as well. Now that we're entering the time of year that feels like a swamp, I rely on this humidity shield to lock my style in place and block out frizz without ever feeling heavy or greasy. In short, I LOVE this stuff and highly recommend it.

2 | JURLIQUE ROSEWATER BALANCING MIST | This next favorite is one that I recently rediscovered and I couldn't be happier that I did. I used this lovely mist years ago as both a toner and refresher throughout the day and I am happy to report that it's as lovely as ever. This super fine mist smells like a true rose garden and does a beautiful job of refreshing my skin. I like to purchase the smaller size for the warmer months so that I can carry it around with me and spritz my face when the heat and humidity become just too much to bear. With one spritz I go from frazzled to fresh and I love it.

3 | JURLIQUE ROSE HAND CREAM | Next up is another Jurlique product I recently fell back in love with. This hand cream smells just as lovely as the mist and moisturizes my hands without leaving any sticky or oily residue. Plus, after applying it I like to take whatever is left on my hands and rub it over the ends of my hair to seal everything in.

4 | LEVI'S 501 SHORTS | When it comes to denim cut-offs I like mine sturdy but comfortable and loose rather than skin tight. To accomplish this I've yet to find anything better than the Levi's 501 shorts. I wear them constantly throughout the warmer months and they are undeniably a staple in my closet. Also, to keep them from feeling too sloppy or casual I like to work in the rule of 3's. In other words, if I'm wearing a t and denim shorts, I'll add a great necklace or bracelet to help elevate the whole look a little more.

5 | JULIE VOS BYZANTINE DROP EARRINGS | I first discovered Julie's beautiful jewelry about 6 years ago while perusing Kat Tanita's blog. Since then I've been a huge fan of the brand and wanted to share a pair of earrings that I have had for about 5 years now and wear constantly. Unfortunately, these semi precious stone/pearl earrings are currently sold out but these are very similar. Also, all of Julie's pieces are beautifully constructed and coated in gold so you can be sure that they'll last for years.

6 | EVENING WALKS | Next, is more of an intangible favorite. Since moving into our new home Jason and I have loved taking evening walks after work as a way to reconnect without distractions and help breathe some inspiration back into our lives. As we stroll the streets we take in all of the sights and sounds and revel in the fact that we're lucky enough to call this lovely city home. If you don't already take walks (morning, noon or night!) I highly recommend doing so. I truly believe that it's good for the body and the soul and I intend to keep doing it as long as I am physically able.

7 | STAR JASMINE | Last but not least is a plant that I've recently become smitten with. Star Jasmine is a beautifully fragrant plan that grows like wild flowers here in Charleston. Since discovering it a bit ago, we've been lucky enough to get our hands on a few plants and have planted them along our fence. Our hope is that they will grow all only the fence and fill the air with the most delicious aroma each spring and summer to come.

That's everything! Like always, I filmed a corresponding video for my YouTube channel that you can view either below or over on my YouTube channel. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful rest of the day.

Spring Makeup Capsule Collection

My makeup philosophy is pretty simple - less is more. When it comes to pulling myself together every day I tend to favor a subtle makeup look that requires minimal time and effort. In order to achieve this, I like to create a small capsule each season full of beauty staples that I can rely on day in and day out.

Capsule_makeup_collection

Today, I want to share my spring capsule makeup collection with you. Before we hop into it, I want to say that this capsule, much like my wardrobe, doesn't contain all of my makeup. That said though, it is most of it as I don't have a very large makeup collection overall. So, let's hop into the products I'm relying on this spring to leave me feeling fresh-faced and ready to take on the day.

In total, my routine takes about 5 minutes every day and consists of the same basic formula regardless of what I'm doing that day - special occasions excluded of course. So, to get me out the door in no time I like to do the following every day that I wear makeup - base, cheeks, eyes, lips.

That's it and each of these steps only contains 1-2 products that I love and know that I can count on to keep my look in place all day!

Below, I've outlined all of the products in my spring makeup capsule collection along with a brief description of why I love them and how I apply them in no time flat.

1 | HOURGLASS VEIL MINERAL PRIMER | This primer is the perfect primer for me during the warmer months because it prevents makeup breakdown without ever feeling heavy. Plus, it never leaves my base layers cakey or looking overdone. Instead, it just creates the perfect smooth base. I apply it with my hands in a downward motion like I would a moisturizer.

2 | BY TERRY CELLULAROSE CC CREAM | BEIGE 3 | I love this cc cream so much for it's lightweight coverage that's still pigmented enough to even my hyperpigmentation. Plus, it smells divine like roses and goes on evenly with minimal effort. To buff and stipple it onto my skin for a flawless finish I rely on my SIGMA F80 brush. It is very pricey though so I try to use this sparingly.

3 | BECCA AQUA LUMINOUS CONCEALER | MEDIUM | As someone that loves minimal effort, maximum impact products this concealer is just what the doctor ordered. It's super blendable, matches my skin like a dream and stays put for hours. I wear the shade medium and apply it with my E.L.F. concealer brush

4 | LAURA MERCIER MINERAL POWDER | RICH VANILLA | On the days when I'm not wearing cc cream I LOVE this mineral powder. It gives the most flawless finish with little to no effort and leaves my skin feeling completely bare but looking airbrushed. My only complaint with this is that it pulls slightly too pink on my very yellow skin tone but I find that if I buff it in really well and apply bronzer I can fake it 'til I make it.

5 | BAREMINERALS ALL OVER FACE COLOR | FAUX TAN | When it comes to bronzers I love formulas that blend seamlessly with the skin and offer a reddy hue that compliments the tones my skin has when it's naturally sun-kissed. Combine that with my love for mineral makeup and you get a love affair with this product that has no end in sight.

6 | MILANI BAKED BLUSH | LUMINOSO | As a blush addict, I have more than a few in my collection but this one from Milani is quickly becoming a favorite. I love the subtle peachy glow that it gives my cheeks without being glittery or heavy. Plus, it's under $10 which can't be beat. Recently, I've been applying it with the Real Techniques Blush Brush for a light application.

7 | ANASTASIA BROW WIZ | EBONY | My hair is very dark (almost jet black) so I need an eyebrow pencil that is not only ashy but also very deep which is why I love the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Ebony. This pencil is super simple to use and creates natural, defined brows that don't budge.

8 | ANASTASIA CLEAR BROW GEL | Once I fill in my brows I set them with the clear brow gel from Anastasia. I've been repurchasing this gel for years and am very happy with it but I think I'll try the Glossier Boy Brow the next time I need to replenish it.

9 | SHU UEMURA EYELASH CURLER | Before moving onto my eye makeup I like to curl my lashes to perk up my eyes. My curler of choice is my Shu Uemura because it's sturdy but not too strong and has the perfect shape for my eyes.

10 | MILANI KOHL KAJAL EYELINER | BLACK | On a day-to-day basis I stick to just mascara but when I want to define my eyes even more I have two eyeliners that I love. The first is this kohl liner that I use on my waterline and tightline and come back to time and time again because it doesn't budge.

11  | STILA STAY ALL DAY WATERPROOF EYELINER | BLACK | When I want to rock a cat eye, I love the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner because it's super easy to use, doesn't budge and offers a deep black, matte line every time.

12 | DIOR LASH MAXIMIZER PRIMER | Before mascara these days I've been loving this primer by Dior. I'm not usually one to add a lash primer to my routine but since receiving a sample of this one I've been quite impressed. This primer adds just the right amount of oompf to my lashes and I am very strongly considering picking up a full size once it runs out.

13 | CLARINS SUPRA VOLUME MASCARA | My mascara of choice this spring is the Clarins Supra Volume Mascara that offers supercharged lashes in just one coat. Plus, it doesn't flake or smudge which is a must for me.

14 | HOLISTIC SCIENCE LIP BALM | ROSE | The last step in my routine is always lips and for that I rely on tinted lip balm because I don't like the feel of lipstick. This all-natural option has bee a fave of mine for quite a while because it smells like roses and leaves the loveliest hint of color. Plus, it moisturizes my lips beautifully.

That's every thing! To go along with this post I filmed a little every day makeup video that you can watch below or over on my YouTube channel. I hope that you like it and thanks so much for stopping by!

Until next time,

Audrey
