Minimalist Packing Guide: 3 Days In Maine, 1 Carry-On

As I mentioned on Monday, Jason and I are headed up north to Maine tonight for a quick trip to see family (we come back Saturday afternoon). To say I'm excited for some last minute leaf peeping is an understatement and I'm packing up my favorite fall pieces to make the most of it.

The Classic Silk Scarf: Fall Capsule Wardrobe Outfit

It's no secret that I love silk scarves! 

From their intricate designs to rich colors, silk scarves offer the perfect amount of interest to an otherwise simple look, and can make season-less pieces feel fall, winter, spring or summer appropriate. 

Beyond just being fun to wear and collect, silk scarves are also a wonderful accessory for stretching your basics without breaking the bank. Not only can you find great options at just about any price point (they don't need to be Hermes to be wonderful), but this classic staple instantly elevates anything it's paired with. 

Case in point, is this simple look I wore recently. The temps are still on the warmer side here in Charleston so I used the scarf to inject a bit of fall into my otherwise neutral look, and couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Thanks to the rich fall colors in this scarf, my white tee felt like a great fall layering piece rather than a lightweight summer top - stretching it even further in my wardrobe. 

For footwear, I pulled out my trusty ballet flats for chic comfort that lasted all day. Plus, they kept my feet covered which further lent to that early fall feeling.

Chic & Comfy Travel Outfit

On Wednesday Jason and I are taking a quick trip to Maine for some fall fun. In preparation, today I'm sharing one of my go-to travel looks that keep me comfy but chic.

The base of this look is one that fits just about any destination I'm heading to and can be topped with a blazer for some added warmth and polish. For this trip I will be doing just that and will wear one of the three blazers I'm bringing - stay tuned for my complete packing guide and list later this week.

For footwear, I always like to wear booties because they go with everything and are super comfortable. Plus, I can easily wear socks with them to protect my feet from the airport floor when going through security. Also, I love to bring my travel Longchamp Pliage to store my personal items. To keep to the one carry-on and a personal item rule, I always leave enough room in my carry-on to store one of my purses. More on that to come in a post later this week.

Monochrome Pop: 37 Piece Fall Capsule Wardrobe Outfit No.5

Happy {almost} Friday! This week has absolutely flown by and was filled with some of the loveliest early fall weather I could have ever hoped for.

To celebrate the crisp, refreshing chill in the air, today's capsule combo features the same cozy sweater from the last look and the classic black skirt. To make the monochromatic look pop, I paired these separates with rich brown accessories and riding boots.
