Herringbone Is Always A Good Idea

Ralph Lauren Herringbone Blazer Sebago Loafers Everlane Silk Shirt LOFT Jeans

In honor of Ralph Lauren stepping down this week, I pulled out my vintage Ralph Lauren herringbone blazer. This blazer is such a testament to the classic designs synonymous with the Ralph Lauren brand. It features a gorgeous tweed material with luxe suede elbow patches and collar details that are always on trend, and oh so perfect for fall.

My cream cashmere sweater is an incredible thrift store find from last year - it was brand new with the tags on! I completed the outfit with my all-time favorite skinny jeans from LOFT (last mentioned here) and my super comfortable brown Sebago loafers

Autumn Layers

Barbour Jacket LOFT Skinny Jeans Gucci Loafers

One of my favorite things about fall, is being able to dress in layers. I love the endless combinations of scarves, sweaters, vests, hats, socks and jackets that can be mixed and matched to suit the changing weather. This outfit is the perfect example of how a few layers added or removed can completely change an outfit.

I kept the base of the outfit simple with a white silk shirt from Everlane, black skinny jeans from LOFT and horsebit loafers. You could easily wear this combination alone year-round, but the addition of the hat, faux fur stole and jacket make it the perfect fall ensemble.

Restaurant Rave: The Grange l Warwick, NY

The Grange Restaurant

Last weekend, after apple picking we grabbed a late lunch at one of our favorite restaurants - The Grange in Warwick, New York. We discovered this quaint farm-to-table eatery last year after another orchard excursion and were hooked from the first bite. Head chef and owner Jim Haurey focuses on "community, sustainable options, and organic products" and changes the menu daily to incorporate the in-season produce from the local farms. Each dish from start to finish is simply to die for and jam-packed with passion, love and the most incredible ingredients.

To start, we had the leek soup with curry croutons and the caesar salad. Both were incredible, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that I will crave that soup every day this fall and winter, and it even has me contemplating a move to Warwick. It was THAT good! It was heart-warming, smooth, hearty and everything else in between that you always want in a soup but very seldom find. Meanwhile, the salad was hands down the best caesar salad I have ever had. The lettuce was the perfect amount of crisp and crunch and the dressing wasn't overpowering, just perfect. Yummmmm.

For our main course we had the fish and chips with garlic potatoes, and the creamy pasta with leafy greens. Both dishes were incredible but I have to say that the pasta was my favorite. It was the perfect balance of pasta and sauce while adequately satisfying my cheese tooth which is no easy feat!

Just thinking about the food is making my mouth water so please, if you ever find yourself in Warwick, you have to stop by The Grange for the meal of a lifetime. Just be sure to make a reservation first. The dining room is small and cozy, and they book up fast!

Until next time, happy eating!

Quick and Easy Fall Breakfast Idea - Maple Spiced Museli

Along with being the official month of back-to-school, tweed, apple picking and the first day of fall, September is also "Better Breakfast Month!" Given this recognition,  I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to share one of my favorite quick and easy fall breakfast ideas with you. This recipe takes under 5 minutes to prepare and the flavors of maple and cinnamon make it perfect dish for a crisp fall morning.

Maple Spiced Museli

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of Museli
  • 1 cup of Almond Milk
  • 1 sprinkle of cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp of pure maple syrup
  • 1 sprinkle of allspice

Directions:

First, pour 1/2 cup of your favorite museli into a microwave safe dish. I personally love Bob's Red Mill Old Country Style Museli but any kind you have will work perfectly well.  Next, pour 1 cup of almond milk over the dry cereal and add 2 tbsp of pure maple syrup. Stir and place in the microwave on high for 3-4 minutes. Remove, sprinkle with cinnamon and allspice, stir once more and enjoy!

Bonus Recipe: English Muffins with Pumpkin Butter

This recipe is almost too simple to call a recipe, but it's so delicious that I had to include it as a bonus. To start, pick up some English muffins, butter and pumpkin butter from your favorite grocery store. Trader Joe's carries an excellent pumpkin butter or you can pick some up while apple picking for extra points ;). Cut your English muffin in half and lightly butter both sides before toasting them in the toaster oven until light brown. While the muffin is still hot, spread an even layer of pumpkin butter on each side, let cool slightly and enjoy.
